Frequently Asked Questions
So some of us may still not really get what is really going on after reading everything and so if there is any confusion, please post your questions here or private message us!
Application Questions
Q: Do I have to follow the forum canon or is it all right for me to just disregard it and use my headcanon?
Over the years, it seems that every fan has their own interpretation of the events and little nuances that go on in the Hetalia universe. For the sake of consistency and avoiding confusion and conflict that usually results, we are asking that you play within the guidelines drawn out by the forum canon. However! We do not want to stub creativity, so if you have a headcanon about something that is not covered by that or can go with the canon we established, by all means include it!
Q: Does my rp writing sample have to be historical?
A: Yes, we are asking that people write historical writing samples due to the fact that this is a historical role-playing community. Additionally, it would not only give us a feel for how you would role-play on this forum, but give you a sense for what it would be like to role-play a fulll blown historical event.
Q: May I apply as a genderbend? How about an original character to represent a country's civil war?
A: No. As this is a historical site, the focus of this forum is to portray the historical events of a country's history. As a result, we tend to go with the idea that the world consists of one country, unless there is a internationally recognized split in itself such as North Korea and South Korea and China and Taiwan. Civil wars in the country, the consolidation of a number of kingdoms into one and all other unification or de-unification of countries for a brief period in time is generally left to the country's player's headcanon. Though it would be interesting to bring in another persona, so goes the saying that too many cooks can ruin a soup or in this case, cause things to be a little more complicated than it already is. Additionally, you should consider playing a character that allows you to keep up with activity rules (or at least be entertained enough).
Q: Does this site allow applications for historical figures?
A: That is a very good question, but no, we do not include historical characters. Although the idea is very appealing, the fact that you would have to constantly find a thread that would play to that time period, along with the fact that it would mean that some of the larger historical events would require us to get enough applicants to play the historical figures involved, it would be impractical for us to allow historical figures. On this site, historical figures are controlled by the country's role-player.
