It was one of those days where staying inside and reading or even sleeping seemed like the optimum thing to do. So while Sadiq dozed off on his couch the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan thought it would be soooo funny to call him when he was getting to that stage of blissful relaxation. Of course, when that certain ring tone went off no matter how much Sadiq enjoyed neglecting to answer his phone this one was unfortunately mandatory. His Prime Minister had been smart in programing such a thing on his landline.
Fine, if his Prime Minister wanted to be a little ass while he was relaxing he could be an ass as well. Sadiq did not move from his position on the couch as he crossed his arms and let the phone ring until it ceased altogether. Satisfied by this little jab he pushes himself up from the couch and reaches for the cordless phone not even an arms-length away. He presses re-dial and less than two rings someone answers.
“Sadiq, were you there the whole time?” The Prime Minister asks a little annoyed.
“I was actually.” He replies truthfully, already grinning in triumphant. “How can I help you Prime Minister?”
Sadiq could easily imagine the other frowning on the other line. He enjoyed this because this was the only bit of fun he could have now that things had changed so drastically from the time of the Ottomans.
“I would really appreciate it if you answer the phone the first time I call.” Sure, like he was actually going to do that on a day like this. “Regardless, I will let that slide.” That was something the man said every time he did it. “I want you to accompany our business men heading to Canada.” What the hell?! Canada?
“To Canada? Do you even know where that is?” Sadiq asked incredulously. Of course, he did know where it was and that the nation himself looked quite similar to loud-mouth America. “Of course I know where that is.” The Prime Minister shot back sounding almost offended.
Sadiq chuckled to himself. “Good and when will I be leaving?” This was when Sadiq’s smug grin was wiped from his face. “In four hours.” SON OF A….
The talk Turk didn’t have a chance to reply as the Prime Minister hung up the phone leaving him to curse to himself. That meant that they would be coming to pick him up in an hour and a half and he needed to be completely ready. How long where they even going for? Sadiq ground his teeth irritated beyond belief. He was sure his Prime Minister played the exact same kind of game he played with the other. See how well you can piss each other off.
Well, the good thing was, Sadiq was so used to this he had left a bag packed for emergency take offs like these ones. He would just go take a shower and clean himself up for the long journey ahead of them. It had been a while since he had visited Canada. He wondered if the kid had changed. No point wondering now when in less than twenty four hours he’d be seeing the personified nation himself.
And as if this were just a normal occurrence to visit far away countries on such short notice Sadiq was ready on time and driven out to the airport with the rest of the business man and as if time had sped up he was standing in the Canadian airport waiting for their liaison to show up.
Hey Canada,
Sorry this took me so long and hope this works for you. I'm glad you agreed to do such an obscure event with me. xD
