● Neapolitan Revolt 1647/48
Involved nations:
Following a brief revolt in Palermo in May 1647, on July 7 1647 the Neapolitans, in protest against a new tax on the sale of fruit, rose in revolt. The rebels demanded the abolition of the new taxes, as well as a reform in the administration of the city of Naples, which would break the hold the nobility had on the city council.

There has been an increase in visits and activities related to its bilateral relations with Turkey by Italy this year when compared to previous years and these actions have not been coincidences, but have happened deliberately, Italian Ambassador to Turkey Carlo Marsili stated.
● Expedition of the Thousand 1860

The Expedition of the Thousand was a military campaign led by the revolutionary general Giuseppe Garibaldi in 1860. A force of volunteers defeated the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, leading to its dissolution and annexation by the Kingdom of Sardinia, an important step in the creation of a newly unified Kingdom of Italy.

The Lega Nord is a political party in Italy founded in 1991 as a federation of several regional parties of Northern and Central Italy, most of which had arisen and expanded their share of the electorate over the 1980s. Its political program advocates the transformation of Italy into a federal state, fiscal federalism and greater regional autonomy, especially for the Northern regions. At times it has advocated secession of the North, which it calls Padania.
● Messina Revolt 1672-1678

In 1672, the artisans of Messina revolted against patrician rule and took control of the city, a social revolt which did not question Spanish rule. In July 1674 a patrician force overcame the rebel force; the patricians retook control of the city, expelled the Spanish governor and called for French aid.

The Italian Wars were a series of conflicts from 1494 to 1559 that involved, at various times, most of the city-states of Italy, the Papal States, most of the major states of Western Europe (France, Spain, the Holy Roman Empire, England, and Scotland) as well as the Ottoman Empire. Originally arising from dynastic disputes over the Duchy of Milan and the Kingdom of Naples, the wars rapidly became a general struggle for power and territory among their various participants, and were marked with an increasing degree of alliances, counter-alliances, and regular betrayals.
